We have seen so many different Speeds of DDR3 ram on the market, ranging anywhere from 1066 Mhz to 2400 Mhz. The mid range ram used by most people is the DDR3 1600 Mhz. Crucial graced us with their new and upcoming ram and having seen the speeds of the ram we previously tested, we were eager to see what we could achieve.
All three generations of high performance DDR memory (DDR, DDR2, DDR3) have their most popular speed…the speed that is a good combination of speed, stability, and compatibility with motherboards. With DDR memory it was DDR-400, with DDR2 it was DDR2-800, and with DDR3 it seems that DDR3-1600 is the norm. Of course, the memory manufacturers build memory much higher than that, to please those enthusiasts that have a real need for speed, or require a lot of headroom for CPU overclocking.
